Two places to play this fall

Detroit families told us the drive was the reason their daughters couldn't play. So we moved a field closer.

New field this season

New this September

Ypsilanti

River Rouge

Ypsilanti Community High School Field. A new home field for the program that started here — if you played with us last season, this is not where you played.

DQS Stadium, in partnership with the River Rouge School District — a seven-week season for girls in Detroit, River Rouge, and the surrounding communities.

Wednesdays, 6–8 p.m. Practice and games in one session.

Sundays, 2–5 p.m. Practice and games in one session.

What a seven-week season looks like

1

Get fitted, get moving

Every player is sized for her jersey and sports bra, meets her coaches, and learns the two things the whole game runs on: pulling a flag and protecting yours.

2

Learn the positions

Quarterback, receiver, rusher, center. Everybody tries everything before anybody gets typecast.

3

Buid the speed

Track work is built into practice: starts, acceleration, and change of direction. The skills that make a fast player also make a fast sprinter.

4

Run real plays

Route trees, reads, and a playbook she can actually recite. Strategy is the part most girls are never taught, and the part they love.

5

Play games

Live competition against the other teams in her age group, with coaching on the sideline instead of shouting.

Coach Candice

Candice Davis Price founded Wildchild Athletics to build the program she wanted as a kid: girls' sport taken seriously, coached properly, and fun enough to come back to.

Gold medalist, 100-meter hurdles, 2007 NACAC Championships.

Silver medalist, 60-meter hurdles, 2008 World Indoor Championships.

In May 2025, the first female coach in MHSAA history to lead a boys' team to a Division 1 state title, with Belleville High School track and field.

Run Wild

Your daughter runs with us. So can you.

Run Wild is a beginner running group for Wildchild parents, family and anyone who wants to back the club. No experience needed. We start with a mile, not a 5K, because a first goal should be one you can actually reach.

What it costs

$99

If that number is the reason you're hesitating, register anyway and talk to us. Cost has never been the thing that keeps a girl off this field.

Scholarships

Available for families who need them. Ask when you register.

registration for the season

Payment plans

Spread the fee out instead of paying it in one go.

Nothing due at sign-up

No payment is required on the day you register.

Questions parents ask

No — most of our players start that way. Teams are grouped by age, and rec league is built for girls who have never touched a football.

We take girls from age 4 through 18, from first-time players to athletes competing at a high school level.

Both. Flag football is the heart of the fall season, speed and track work is built into every practice, and skills and speed runs October through December.

One. Practice and games happen in the same session, so it's a single trip each week — Wednesday evenings in Ypsilanti, Sunday afternoons in River Rouge.

Skills and speed runs from October through December, and the travel team competes from January through spring. We also have an indoor league in Detroit from January through February. She can stay with us all year, or come back when she's ready.

Yes. Run Wild is our beginner running group for parents and supporters, with early-morning runs in Ypsilanti and runs alongside league sessions at both fields. We also have WCX, which is our Co-Ed Adult Flag Football Team

Her jersey and sports bra are included with registration. We'll send a full list of what to wear and bring once you've signed up.

Talk to us anyway. Scholarships and payment plans are available, and nothing is due on the day you sign up.

Yes. It's a fast-growing high school and college sport, and it will be a medal sport at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
